Lipton Tea House Kyoto Station

Every sweet-tooth that pass Lipton Tea House must be tempted by its beautiful cakes on the display. I and two of my friends were looking for a dessert after having a fulfilling ramen for dinner around Kyoto Station. As we walked inside Porta – the underground mall in the station – the Lipton cakes grabbed our attention. We decided to give the cafe a try.
Apparently to sit and enjoy a dessert time in Lipton Tea House, we have to order not only a cake but also a drink. Thus, we ordered two drinks – one Yuzu Cider (500 yen) and one Darjeeling Tea in a pot (550 yen). As for the cakes, we had one cake for each of us. Mine was Gateau Chocolate Cake (560 yen), Paw’s was Earl Grey Strawberry Cake (550 yen), and Rika’s was Green Tea Tart (580 yen). I can say the beauty of the cake match with the taste. All the cake was delicious, but my favorite was Rika’s. Layered beautifully, the tart consists of green tea, chocolate, and pie crust. It tastes bitter-sweet, and since I am a fan of pie crust, I like the texture of the cake. For a fresh and soft cake, I would recommend Paw’s cake. I am not a fan of Earl Grey but this cake, combined with strawberries, somehow makes it tastes nice. As for my cake, it would be perfect for a chocolate addict as the chocolate inside the cake is quite dense.

Lipton Tea House, especially the one in Kyoto Station, is not really a place to work or read. But, it is a perfect place to spend your time talking with friends, families, or relatives while having a fancy dessert. Other than cakes, they also offer savory menus for lunch and dinner and other sweet menus such as pancakes and parfaits.
